Each of them allows users to password protect it with built-in encryption.   • Open the document you wish to password protect in either Pages, Numbers, or Keynote app

Setting a password for a document using any of the iWork apps on a Mac is a bit different.  After finishing up your iWork documents, do the following:

  • Select "File" in the menu bar and click on "Set Password."

  • Click on "Set Password" to set password for your iWork files.

Apple integrated iWork into Apple's iCloud service making it also available for cross-platforms. You can also lock documents with passwords from iCloud:

  • From iCloud.com, open the app you want to access and password protect the document from (Pages, Keynote, or Numbers)
  • Choose the Wrench icon to access Settings and again choose "Set Password"
  • Confirm the password and close the document to secure it
