How to Force SkyDrive to Store Your Files on Your Hard Drive in Windows 8.1

Like Macs have iCloud and Chromebooks have Google Drive, Windows 8.1 PCs have SkyDrive. SkyDrive on Windows 8.1 is smart, offering a new way of syncing files that saves on disk space. It's great for devices with small amounts of local storage.

What is SkyDrive ?

SkyDrive allows you to store your files online. They're linked to your Microsoft account and can be synced across your PCs, downloaded via a web browser. Still, storing your files locally on regular Windows 8.1 PC will also allow you to access them even when you aren't connected to the Internet. Luckily, it's very easy to force SkyDrive to store a copy of your files on your hard drive in Windows 8.1. Learn the how-to as following part.

How to Force SkyDrive to Store a Copy of Your Files on Your Hard Drive in Windows 8.1?

Option 1: Using SkyDrive Through File Explorer

• 1. Press the Windows + E key combination to open File Explorer.
• 2. Right click the SkyDrive icon in the left-hand navigation column.
• 3. In the context menu, select "Make available offline". That will force SkyDrive to download all of your cloud-stored files to the local hard drive.

  

  You can also rigit-click the folders individually and select Make available offline.

Option 2: Using SkyDrive on Desktop

• 1. Open the SkyDrive modern UI app and then tap the Windows + I combination to open the Settings charm.
• 2. Select Options and click or tap the on/off slider to "On".
